Commissioning a Pet Portrait...

* Currently CLOSED for commission orders.  Please subscribe FREE to my email newsletter to be notified when order book re-opens.  Apologies for any inconvenience.  Thank you.

We all love our pets, and I LOVE to paint them.  My pet portraits are painted using oil paints in my style which I would describe as realistic yet loose and painterly.  I especially love to paint eyes as these are the windows to any soul and really bring out the expression of the subject.

I also pay attention to the fur.  It has taken me years to master how to create a furry look, fur you feel you could almost touch!  I enjoy being expressive with the background, picking out colours you may not immediately notice that I have used within the subject to create the over all painting.  If you don't want to let me loose with this part then that is fine, we can agree on a colour background of your choice instead.

It couldn't be simpler to order a portrait of your pet or perhaps for that extra special gift for somebody.  It's a loving memory of a cherished family member, locked in luscious oil paint which will last forever.

Price list :-

A4 ( 21 x 29cm/ 8 x 11 inches ) 255gsm Huile paper - £95

A3 ( 29 x 42cm/ 11 x 16 inches ) 255gsm Huile paper - £150

12 x 12" square canvas (normally only suitable for head and shoulders) - £150

The A4 and A3 are painted on quality 255gsm Huile Oil paper and come mounted with a card back in cellophane making the overall size :-

A4 - 11 x 14 inches,

A3 - 16 x 20 inches.

*  Prices are for one subject only and for a plain coloured background.  Please enquire for a  quote for added subjects and detailed background within the same painting.

*  If you have something else in mind then this can be discussed and a price quoted.

*  Subscribers to my email list receive an exclusive 5% discount, a further 5% discount is added for returning clients.

*  I can only paint what can be seen so a good CLEAR photo is needed especially of the eyes.  If you have a few photos you could send me that would be great as then we can decide between us what will make the best picture.

*  There is usually a 3 - 4 month wait at the moment from securing a order and as I use oil paint this can take up to a further 6 weeks to dry/cure, so if it's for a present then make sure you order extra early!

*  A non-refundable deposit of £40 is required upon ordering to secure a place.

*  Your painting will arrive safely and securely wrapped and flat packed using the Royal Mail signed service.  The cost of postage and packaging is £5 for the A4 and £10 for the A3 and 12 x 12" canvas.  This will be added to the final payment which is to be made before I post.  Alternatively if you are local then a collection date and time can be arranged.

You will receive photos via email/messenger of the finished piece for approval before full payment.  If in the unfortunate event that you are not satisfied and changes cannot be made then no further payment is required but the deposit is non refundable.  If after you have received your painting you do not wish to keep it then you may return it at your own postal expense.  As long as I have received the painting in top condition then a refund of the final payment will be made minus the cost of P&P.

*  Please email me on hayleywalters74@icloud.com for enquiries/discuss requirements and ordering.

" I'm so over the moon with our portrait of Simon.  The painting looks so much like him and Hayley has somehow captured his character too.  His cheekiness is shining through.  I love the technique used and can't wait to hang it on the wall at home. "

Fearne Cotton

" I recently asked Hayley to paint a surprise birthday present for a friend. The service was excellent with great communication and updates. The painting she did (taken from an FB photo) was absolutely amazing. Just given the oil painting to my friend and her tears of joy confirmed this was an ideal present. Highly recommend Hayley to anyone thinking of getting a special present or treasured memory of a loved pet. PS, just got a msg from my friend, she abandoned shopping and is off showing her family her painting (she is sooooooooooo happy) Thanks Hayley - your huge talent is much appreciated. "

Stephen Halsey

" Commissioned two pet portraits both challenging and difficult in their own rights. Hayley totally exceeded my expectations, we were blown away.  Thank you once again Hayley. "

" Hayley painted a lovely portrait for me in memory of my dog, Bertie.  She really captured his personality in the painting and I would highly recommend her. "

Clare Butler

" Would 100% recommend Hayley's pet portraits! They turn out perfect every time! I have 2 paintings of our quirky kitties in Hayley's new style of painting! We have a 3rd one on order - very excited to receive it so we can put them all up on the wall together.  Have also previously had 2 paintings of my dogs from Hayley in her older style painting and I still love them! They make the perfect gift for an animal lover. "

Alanah Varley

" Love the style of portraits Hayley does, perfect quality and communicated through the process to be sure I was happy with it.  Highly recommend. "

About

Hayley was born and raised in the market town of Kettering, Northamptonshire.  From a very early pre school age a love for drawing people and faces soon developed.

Hayley drew for hours every day and her favourite Christmas present each year was some brand new pens/pencils and a nice fresh new white slab of drawing paper!

Music is also a strong passion of Hayley's which influences a lot of her work.  Painting whilst listening to an eclectic collection of music is what really fires her soul to paint!

Upon leaving secondary school Hayley continued to draw but then gave it up to raise a young family independently.

After twenty years Hayley eventually picked up a pencil again and from that moment the passion ignited and she hasn't looked back.  Very quickly Hayley experimented with various mediums such as acrylic paint, watercolour paint, watercolour pencils, oils until favouriting acrylic paint and water soluble oil paint, and specialising in figurative work and pet portraiture.  Hayley also takes an interest in how other cultures live and especially loves to paint African scenes and people.

"I love to explore the variety of colours found in human skin tones, adding my own experimentation of colour too.

I aim to capture the more intense, serious side of a person, a glimpse of the deepness beneath the outside shell.  The facial expressions are usually deep in thought or quite sultry looking."

A passion for painting dogs and cats has been an increasing element to her painting career having recently WON the Cat "C" category for Cat Portrait Artist of the Year 2023.

One of Hayley's techniques is fast, loose, expressive brushstrokes.  Her work is textured and bold whether she is using a limited palette or a wide variety of colours.  Expressing emotion and movement is her favourite way to paint.  The eyes are the windows to the soul and when painting fur she achieves a fur you feel you could almost touch!

Hayley is a member of the Kettering and District Art Society and NOS (Northants Open Studios.)  She has exhibited for the KDAS 116th Annual Exhibition in which both pieces immediately sold and also regularly sells her work at The Artworks Centre locally, aswell as exhibiting and selling with NOS each year at Lamport Hall.

Recently being chosen for the Highly Commended category collection for the Explorers Against Extinction "Sketch for Survival" competition, her piece "Momentary Contentment" was displayed in the online gallery plus at various pop up events including the Gallery@Oxo at Canary Wharf, London.  The sale proceeds will go to the conservation charities which Hayley is extremely proud to support being an animal lover herself.

Hayley has also participated with the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Week weekly challenge during lockdown resulting in her painting of Floella Benjamin being chosen for the gallery wall on the show.

Hayley's other pursuits include walking her dog in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.

"I have always had an appreciation and love for the simple and authentic things in life.  The thing about being an artist I love is not only the escapism and mindfulness experienced whilst creating but also the feeling of freedom to produce something totally unique, a one off.

Thank you for visiting my site.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like more information about any original artwork, prints available or commissioning a portrait.  For exclusive offers, discounts and news please subscribe to my email list.  You won't be bombarded with emails, just a newsletter every one or two months and you will recieve 5% off original art and commissions.

I would like to thank the wonderful photographers who allow artists to use their amazing photography for inspiration."

Best wishes

Hayley x
